Virat Kohli Breaks T20 World Cup Record
Following their 5-run win against Bangladesh, India now stands on top in their group standings and look good for qualification for the semi-finals. While there were plenty of players to commend for the win, Virat Kohli stands out as a tournament record breaker. After his 64-runs, Kohli surpassed ICC Hall of Famer Mahela Jayawardena as the most prolific run-scorer in ICC Men's T20 World Cup history with a total of 1065-runs.
Currently, the player averages 88.75 runs across T20 World Cup matches with a strike rate of 132. With India looking good for a semi final spot, Kohli has at least another 2 games to add to his runs total.
According to an interview when preparing for the tournament, Kohli stated, “Fitness for me is probably more important than having cricket practice. I honestly feel that having a fit body makes you think better as well."
