Mehazabien Remains Humble After Three Awards

Prominent Bangladeshi actress and model Mehazabien Chowdhury achieved an impressive feat by winning three awards within a span of just 24 hours.

"Receiving any award is a token of appreciation from both audience and critics," the actress shared. Mehazabien Chowdhury's remarkable talent and performance as Rokeya in Vicky Zahed's "Punorjonmo'' series earned her the title of Best Actress at the Meril Prothom Alo Awards, Channel i Digital Media Awards, and Babisas Award (Bangladesh Binodon Shangbadik Shomity). This recognition came within a 24-hour period, showcasing her exceptional acting skills and popularity in the industry.

Mehazabien Chowdhury expressed the significance of her role as Rokeya, noting it as one of the most challenging and beloved characters she has portrayed. She mentioned that over the past three years, wherever she went, whether in Bangladesh or abroad, people were eagerly inquiring about the next installment of the series. She emphasized that the level of anticipation and excitement for this project exceeded anything she had experienced before in her career.

Despite her success and the popularity of her role as Rokeya, Mehazabien Chowdhury revealed that her personal favorite character remains Tithi from "Chirokal Aaj." She described Tithi as the most challenging character she has portrayed in her career, underscoring the significance and impact of that role on her as an actress.

Every artist has their unique approach to preparing for their roles. The "Redrum" actress emphasized the significance of rehearsals to become familiar with her co-stars and the characters she portrays on screen. She mentioned that personally observing others' performances contributes to enhancing her acting abilities.

Furthermore, she believes that traveling to diverse locations, meeting new individuals, and immersing herself in various cultures also has a positive influence on her. Hence, for her, traveling is a valuable method of acquiring knowledge and skills.

The television industry is facing challenges because prominent actors like Afran Nisho, Apurba, and Mehazabien have been occupied with OTT and movie ventures. There are worries about who will step in to fill their roles.

Mehazabien advised patience, saying that those who have transitioned to other platforms should value it, as it benefits our industry. She also pointed out that these well-known figures didn't achieve their popularity overnight; it took them decades. Therefore, we shouldn't rush, as there are many promising talents who will soon take the lead.

The actress known for her role in "Sabrina" highlighted the positive trend of the OTT platform giving importance to stories centered around women. However, she also stressed the need for the traditional silver screen to make similar efforts. She pointed out that audiences have a significant role to play in this regard. If they desire to see high-quality content, they must show their support when such projects are produced.

Mehazabien also pointed out that gender discrimination is not restricted to just what we see on screens. She noted that the issue of male actors receiving higher pay than their female counterparts is well-known. She even mentioned international instances where a male actor chose to leave a project because his female co-star was not receiving equal pay. She emphasized that everyone involved, from the audience to producers, directors, and actors, is interconnected in addressing this issue.
