Marnus Labuschagne Shares Coffee with David Warner

Following their loss against India in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 in Nagpur, Australian cricketer David Warner shared a video that showed morale was not down. In the video, the player is being treated to a cup of ‘special coffee’ by teammate Marnus Labuschagne.

The post features a three-minute video that shows Marnus preparing two cups of coffee from his 'special' coffee bags, which he brought from Australia. In the video, Labuschagne’s special coffee machine can be seen, which Warner pointed out had the stitching of a cricket ball from the sides.

At one point in the video, Labuschagne spills some milk as he pours it into his teammates’ cups. The two can be heard joking about it too, however, Warner appreciated the ‘perfect’ cup of coffee made by his compatriot and at the end of the video, focused the camera on the bag of coffee that his teammate brought.

It was during Australia’s preparation for the Test series against India that Labuschagne shared a photo that showed him packing coffee bags for the upcoming tour in India. The photo showed a bag filled with coffee bags and had the caption, "Just a few KG of coffee on its way to Guess how many bags?"

There were plenty of hilarious responses to the tweet. Among them was a response from Warner that read, “Are you paying any import duty for those??"

Marnus Labuschagne’s Love for Coffee

The Australian cricketer has a well-known love for coffee. According to former Australian coach Darren Lehmann, the batter must have 15 to 20 coffees per day. In one interview, Labuschagne said he is the 'head barista' of the Australian cricket team. He added that he loves the process and art of making coffee as much as drinking it.

When recounting how his love for coffee started, Marnus said, “My interest in coffee started when I received a coffee machine for my 21st birthday. Since then, I've gone down the coffee rabbit hole, especially in these past few years.”

In 2022, the player launched a personal coffee brand called The Run Club. The brand's goal is to have ‘more people experience the perfect home coffee.’

When the team landed in India, the batter confirmed their arrival with a Twitter post that read, “Hello India let the preparation begin," and followed it with a video clip showing him preparing a cup of coffee.

Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 So Far

Currently, India leads the Test series by 132 runs. During the 1st Test, Labuschagne was the leading run-scorer at 49 runs. In the second inning on Day 3, Marnus only scored 17 runs, while David Warner added 10 runs before being dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Following the 1st Test, the 2nd Test will start on February 17 and go on until February. The last Test will be on March 9 to 13.

Before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, the last time Australia had won a Border-Gavaskar Trophy was in 2004-2005.

Right after the Test series, India and Australia will play against each other for an ODI series starting on March 17.
