Loved Ones Emotionally Remember Sridevi on Her Birthday

The iconic Indian star, Sridevi, would have turned 60 today, her legacy remains deeply etched in the film industry and the hearts of her countless fans. Though she passed away in 2021, her remarkable impact endures, prompting her family to warmly commemorate her birth anniversary on Sunday through heartfelt social media posts.


Boney Kapoor, Sridevi's husband, took to Instagram to share a touching throwback photo featuring him and Sridevi, simply captioning it "Happy Birthday."



Their younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor, also shared a reminiscent picture of the late actor. In the image, Sridevi's elegance is accentuated by her blue saree, while Khushi and her sister Janhvi Kapoor exude charm in pink dresses. Khushi's caption read "Happy Birthday Mama" accompanied by a white heart emoji. Janhvi, in her own gesture, reshared her father's post on her Instagram story.




Janhvi, who recently starred in "Bawaal," has often spoken about the emotional hurdle she and her sister Khushi faced in coming to terms with their mother's untimely passing. During her film promotion, she was asked about the most significant struggle in her life. She candidly shared with Pinkvilla, "I think definitely when I lost mom. I was shooting for Dhadak, and dealing with her loss was quite tough, and also somehow finding the will to keep working but also finding a way to deal with all of these things happening in our lives was tough. Figuring that out was definitely the biggest war in my life."


In a heartfelt tribute, Google paid homage to Sridevi on her 60th birth anniversary with a dedicated doodle. The intricate artwork, credited to Mumbai-based guest artist Bhumika Mukherjee, portrays Sridevi adorned in the iconic blue saree from "Mr. India," striking a pose reminiscent of the song "Mere Haathon Mein" from "Chandni." The doodle also subtly references her famous hand gesture from "Naagin," a signature move that she replicated.

Google's description celebrated Sridevi's pioneering accomplishments and how she paved new avenues for women to seize leading roles in Indian cinema. It highlighted her unparalleled success, starring in nearly 300 movies over four decades and often standing out without a male counterpart in a traditionally male-dominated industry.


Actor Anil Kapoor joined the chorus of tributes. Sharing a throwback photo of himself with the late actress on Instagram, Anil reflected on her enduring legacy and impact on cinema. The duo had collaborated on several successful films, including "Mr. India," "Judaai," "Laadla," "Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja," "Heer Ranjha," "Lamhe," and "Mr. Bechara."



Who is Sridevi?

Born in Tamil Nadu as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyappa, Sridevi embarked on her cinematic journey at the tender age of four with "Kandhan Karunai." She quickly achieved national acclaim and left an indelible mark on Bollywood. Her remarkable performances, including "Lamhe," "Chandni," "Chaalbaaz," "Sadma," among others, are etched in the audience's memory.


After a hiatus following her 1997 film "Judaai," Sridevi made a triumphant return in 2012 with the lead role in Gauri Shinde's "English Vinglish," which garnered critical acclaim and led to her receiving the Padma Shri award. Her subsequent role in the crime thriller "Mom" in 2017, where she portrayed a mother seeking justice for her daughter, earned her a posthumous National Award.


Sridevi, originally Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, was celebrated for her iconic roles in Hindi movies such as "Chandni," "Lamhe," "Mr. India," "Chaalbaaz," "Nagina," "Sadma," and "English Vinglish," among others. Her versatile talents extended across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. Her final film, "Mom," earned her a posthumous Best Actress National Award. She passed away on February 24, 2018, while attending a family event in Dubai.

As her birthday was marked, Janhvi Kapoor shared a touching note and a vintage image of Sridevi on a film set.
