Litton Das Flies to Canada for Global T20 League
Bangladesh cricketer Liton Das recently announced his departure to Canada to participate in the highly anticipated Global T20 League. The 28-year-old batter took to his social media handle to share the news, requesting prayers and support from his fans.
"I'm heading to Canada for the Global T20 League. Humbly requesting your prayers and support!" he wrote.
Liton Das has been roped in by the Surrey Jaguars for the third edition of the tournament, while the Montreal Tigers have included the ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in their side.
Joining Liton in the Surrey Jaguars team are several other star cricketers from around the world. The team boasts the presence of England opener Alex Hales, Pakistan's Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Haris, Australia's pacer Jason Behrendorff, and Nepal's leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane. The Global T20 League is set to commence on July 20 and will conclude on August 6, offering fans an exciting extravaganza of cricket.
In addition to Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan has also received clearance to participate in the Global T20 League. Shakib, along with his family members, is expected to leave for Canada late at night. The talented all-rounder will represent the Montreal Tigers in the tournament. Shakib's contributions to the game have been immense, and his inclusion in the Tigers' squad is expected to bolster their chances in the competition.
Shakib has also obtained a 'No Objection Certificate' to participate in the Lanka Premier League for the Galle Gladiators. This presents an excellent opportunity for him to showcase his skills in yet another high-profile tournament. The Lanka Premier League is scheduled to take place from July 30 to August 21. Meanwhile, Liton Das will remain with the Surrey Jaguars throughout the entirety of the Global T20 season.
The Bangladesh national cricket team doesn't have any international matches scheduled right now, so Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan participating in these global leagues will give them valuable experience and help them improve their skills on the international stage.

The Global T20 League in Canada is an exciting event that aims to promote the growth and development of cricket in the country. The tournament will span over 18 days, featuring 25 captivating matches. In the previous editions, renowned T20 legends like Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, and Lasith Malinga showcased their exceptional skills, adding to the tournament's allure. To create a diverse and inclusive environment within the sport, each team participating in the Global T20 League is limited to a squad of 16 players. The league stage will consist of 21 matches, with each team playing seven of them. The format of the league stage may resemble that of the IPL, with the six teams divided into two virtual groups.
