Latest Update on Rishabh Pant's Condition After Car Crash

On December 30, 2022, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant got into a car accident. According to reports, Pant had fallen asleep at the wheel while on route to meet his mother in Roorkee and ended up hitting a barrier. The player is currently in stable condition in the Max Hospital in Dehradun. However, recent reports say that Pant has been moved to a private suite.
"Due to fear of infection, we told his family and hospital administration to shift him to a private suite. He is doing better and will recover soon," said Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) director Shyam Sharma on Monday. On Sunday, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the state government will provide all help for the treatment of the 25-year-old.
At the time of the incident, Rishabh Pant managed to flee the burning and damaged vehicle and was rescued by two people. They were bus driver Sushil Kumar and conductor Paramjit. The duo had reportedly witnessed the accident and had called for help.
In one interview, Sushil revealed that Pant had requested him to call his mother when he was found.
There were also two other people at the scene. Rajat and Nishu were the pair that took the star Indian wicketkeeper-batter to the hospital.
According to an interview, Rajat stated, "We saw him first and his condition was serious. We helped him. A driver named Sushil and a bus conductor dialed 108 to call for help. We did not know who he was, but for the sake of humanity, we covered his body with clothes to save his life. We sent him to Saksham Hospital in an ambulance."
The two even handed over Rs 4,000 in cash, which belonged to the cricketer, to the police administration. Pant had reportedly lost the money during the accident, and Rajay stated that the remaining items were burnt.
Rajat and Nishu have recently visited Pant on Monday, and they were not the only ones to visit the player. It was reported that Bollywood stars Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher also visited him. According to a social media post, the actors stated "We met him & his mother. He is stable. Appeal to people to pray for him so that he gets well soon."
Initially, Pant was being treated at Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre for cuts to his forehead as well as injuries to his knee, wrist, ankle, and toe before being transferred to Max Hospital in Dehradun.
Last Friday, plastic surgery on his forehead had been performed. So far, an MRI scan update is awaited which will determine how severe are his injuries and when he can return to the cricket field. If the cricket star is unable to recover anytime soon, KS Bharat, Upendra Yadav, and Ishan Kishan are up for consideration as his replacement. Aside from this, Australia opener David Warner, who played his 100th Test last week, is the favourite to become the new Delhi Capitals captain for IPL 2023 season while Pant recovers.
