Kohli Denies News About Cricket Pitch in Alibaug Farmhouse

Just a few days after addressing and setting the record straight regarding his social media earnings on Twitter, Virat Kohli has once again taken to Instagram to deny another piece of misinformation. A recent newspaper article claimed that celebrity couple Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli were in the process of constructing a cricket pitch at their Alibaug farmhouse.

Accompanied by a screenshot of the mentioned report, Kohli expressed his frustration by stating, “Bachpan se jo akhbar Padha hai, wo bhi fake news chaapne lage ab.” Which translates to "Even the newspaper I've been reading since childhood is now resorting to spreading fake news.”

According to the report, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have allegedly put in Rs 19.24 crore for an 8-acre land purchase to establish a farmhouse in Alibaug. Additionally, the article referenced another source to claim that Kohli is enthusiastic about having a cricket pitch on the premises and is actively supervising even the smallest aspects of the construction process.

As one of the most widely followed athletes on Instagram, Kohli commands a substantial audience of over 255 million followers on the photo and video-sharing platform.

In a prior report, it was revealed that Kohli had procured his second property in Alibaug during the previous year. The seasoned Indian batsman reportedly paid a stamp duty amounting to INR 36 lakh for the acquisition of a 2,000 sq ft villa, a transaction that carried a price tag of INR 6 crore.

During the period when Kohli was fulfilling his international commitments in Australia, his brother Vikas Kohli took charge of the situation and visited the Alibaug sub-registrar office to oversee and finalize the registration procedures.

In a recent incident, Virat Kohli strongly criticized the media for its reporting. The media had circulated a story stating that the renowned batsman purportedly requests a staggering $1,384,000, which amounts to over Rs 11.45 crore, for every post on his social media accounts. This would position him as the third highest-earning athlete on the platform, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo, who charges $3,234,000 (Rs 26.76 crore) per post, and Lionel Messi, who commands $2,597,000 (Rs 21.49 crore) for each of his posts.

Addressing the matter on his social media accounts, the actor clarified that the reported figure of him earning over 11.25 crore for a single post is inaccurate. He expressed gratitude for his blessings but emphasized that the circulating news regarding his social media earnings is indeed false. “While I am grateful and indebted to all that I've received in life, the news that has been making rounds about my social media earnings is not true,” he said.

In terms of his professional commitments, Kohli is set to make a comeback to the ODI team in the upcoming Asia Cup, which is scheduled to commence later this month. The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is slated for September 2. Notably, Kohli had been given a break during the T20I series against the West Indies, which India unfortunately lost 2-1.
