KL Rahul Gives Funny Response to Injury Question

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul showcased his witty side in a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game against the Rajasthan Royals. During the post-match presentation, Rahul was asked about an injury he sustained in the game after being hit by a throw from one of his teammates.

The LSG captain jokingly replied that he must have been doing something wrong as captain, bringing laughter to the audience.

LSG's Status

The game saw LSG emerge victorious by 10 runs after they successfully defended their total of 155 runs against the Rajasthan Royals. Rahul had opened the batting alongside Kyle Mayers, and the duo had started well by putting up a decent 82-run opening stand. However, LSG suffered a mini-collapse, losing four wickets in four overs.

Despite this, Rahul praised his team's performance, particularly the batsmen who had managed to put up a good total on a surface that was not easy to bat on. In the 10th over, Rahul and Mayers had sent a message that a total of 160 would be a good target on the tricky track. While they fell 10 runs short of that mark, Rahul stated that they made up for it with their bowling performance.

Rahul's Comments on the Match

Reflecting on the pitch conditions, Rahul revealed that they had come into the match with the belief that a total of around 180 would be a winning score. However, after facing Trent Boult's first over, he and Mayers realized that it was not a 180-wicket track.

The ball was kept low, so they decided to give themselves more time in the powerplay. Rahul stated that had they played better, they could have ended up with a score of 170.

Rahul also spoke about the turning point of the match, citing the run-out of Rajasthan Royals' Sanju Samson by Amit Mishra, and the quick dismissal of Jos Buttler and Shimron Hetmyer. LSG knew that the Royals' strength lay in their top four, so they had planned their strategies accordingly.

Unfortunate Turn for KL Rahul

While Rahul managed to make light of the incident, the results of the match led to the captain being fined Rs 12 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate during the match.

The Indian Premier League aims for matches to finish within three hours and 20 minutes, but slow over-rates have been a persistent issue. Despite the captain's fine, LSG managed to defeat the Rajasthan Royals by 10 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Kyle Mayers was the top-scorer with 51 runs off 42 balls, while Avesh Khan took three wickets for LSG as RR was restricted to 144 for six in 20 overs.

The LSG is currently third in the IPL 2023 points table, with four wins and two losses from six matches. They will take on the Chennai Super Kings in their next match on April 22. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals will face the Delhi Capitals on April 20.

For now, cricket fans are eagerly waiting to see KL Rahul’s next witty response at the post-match presentation.
