Barcelona Fans Chant for Messi Again at Camp Nou

FC Barcelona fans have made their desires clear – they want their superstar Lionel Messi back at Camp Nou. During the recent match against Girona, fans chanted “Messi, Messi” in the tenth minute.

This marks the third time Messi’s name has been chanted at his former home, with the first time being during a Kings League match.

Despite the results of the game, the fans are determined to show their support for Messi's return.

Barcelona's manager, Xavi Hernandez, acknowledges the fans' love for Messi and the anticipation his possible return is generating.

While speaking to reporters after the match, Xavi said, "The fans appreciate where we are. But we are missing the title. Leo generates hope. They have been chanting his name for two games. Let's see if that happens. We focus on this season, we have to win La Liga."

Statements on Messi's Transfer

Barcelona’s vice-president, Rafael Yuste, confirmed last week that the club has been in contact with PSG about Messi. Yuste expressed his desire to have Messi back at Camp Nou and said, “Messi knows how much we appreciate him. I would love for him to come back. We’re in contact, of course, with them.”

Recently, there were reports of Messi's father meeting with the Barcelona chief. It was later confirmed that it was about a special match at Camp Nou to honor Messi once he retires from European football.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed this, stating, "We discussed the World Cup and a tribute match for Leo. However, since he's currently at PSG, I prefer not to comment on his potential return."

For now, Barcelona will have to ensure that they comply with La Liga's Financial Fair Play rules if they want to sign Messi.

The Argentine international has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona in the summer transfer window after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season.

While PSG fans have been jeering and whistling at Messi, Barcelona supporters have been expressing their love and affection for their former superstar.

Other Details on Barcelona

Aside from chants, fans have been showing their support for the move by holding up placards and boards expressing their love for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Barcelona is already working on a deal to bring Messi back to the club. They are trying to sort out their finances to ensure they can successfully register him for the upcoming season.

Messi left Barcelona in 2021 after the club couldn't renew his contract. While there are still discussions going on, reports are leaning heavily toward Messi's return.

The only obstacle to overcome is the club's Financial Fair Play rules. But Barcelona fans are hopeful that the club can find a way to bring their beloved player back to Camp Nou. Before that though, Barcelona aims to reach their goal of winning La Liga.

Currently, the Blaugrana are scheduled to return to action in La Liga against Getafe on Sunday. Meanwhile, Messi will aim to increase his goal count for PSG as they host Lens in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
