Azeem Rafiq Reveals Who Forced Him to Drink at the Age of 15

Thirteen months ago, Azeem Rafiq left the cricket world stunned when he revealed that he was pinned down and forced to drink by a team-mate at age 15. Now, he has submitted parliamentary documents that identify former Yorkshire and Hampshire all-rounder, Alex Morris, as the alleged perpetrator.
The written evidence was submitted to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee following his second appearance before them on Wednesday. It stated how the incident occurred when Rafiq played for his local cricket club at age fifteen and explicitly named Morris.
Alex Morris (age 46) was a senior player at Barnsley at the time of the incident. As a Muslim, Rafiq did not drink.
In the document, Rafiq wrote, “I was pinned down by an older player, Alex Morris ['Almo'], in the back of a car, where he forced red wine down my throat.”
When questioned about the incident, Morris did not comment but denied the allegations.
Before the submission of the documents, there was a report that South Yorkshire Police spoke to Morris about the incident earlier this year after receiving a complaint, but no action was taken.
