10 Bangladesh Cricketers and their Wives

In the vibrant cricket-loving nation of Bangladesh, the players are considered modern-day heroes and are greatly admired for their skills and dedication to the game. There are numerous Bangladesh cricket stars who have not only captured the hearts of millions with their exceptional talent but have also been supported wholeheartedly by their loving wives.

These women play a vital role in their husbands' lives and careers, offering genuine companionship, encouragement, and love. Despite not being in the spotlight, they are an essential part of the players' success and happiness.

1. Shakib Al Hasan and Umme Ahmed Shishir

Shakib Al Hasan, arguably the most successful cricketer in Bangladesh's history, has achieved impressive stats with 13,205 runs and 632 wickets across all formats. Besides his cricketing success, he is also known for his beautiful wife, Umme Ahmed Shishir, who is popular among fans.

Umme Ahmed was born in 1989 in Narayanganj, Bangladesh. When she was 10 years old, she moved to the United States where she completed all her studies. She pursued a degree in Computer Science and became a Software Engineer by profession. Later, she went to the United Kingdom for further studies, where she met Shakib while he was playing County Cricket in 2010. They dated and eventually got married in 2012.

In addition to her career as a Software Engineer, she is also a talented and beautiful model. Umme has garnered a substantial following on her social media accounts.

The couple is blessed with three children, two girls named Alayna Hasan and Errum, and a son named Eyzah.

2. Litton Das and Devashri Biswas Sonchita

Litton Das is a key player for Bangladesh, consistently performing well as an opener in both white-ball and red-ball cricket. In his career, he has scored more than 5,000 runs in 152 matches, achieving 28 fifties and eight centuries.

After the 2019 50-overs World Cup, Litton got married to Devashri Biswas, who pursued an MBA at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. According to several reports, the couple were already dating way back in their college days. In the present, Devashri is working as an agriculturist.

Over time, Litton has become the preferred choice as the opening batsman for the Bangla Tigers. As he heads into the T20 World Cup 2022, he brings with him a good run of scores and excellent form, making him a valuable asset for the team.

3. Mushfiqur Rahim and Jannatul Kifayet

Mushfiqur Rahim holds the record for being the most successful wicket-keeper in the history of Bangladesh cricket, with 427 dismissals in 420 international games. He is also the second-highest run-scorer for Bangladesh, having scored 13,509 runs, including 91 fifties and 14 centuries.

In 2014, Rahim married Jannatul Kifayet, who studied Business Studies. Interestingly, Jannatul is the sister of Mahmudullah's wife, and they met at Mahmudullah's wedding. In 2018, the couple welcomed a baby boy named Mohammad Shahroj Rahim Mayan.

In September 2022, Mushfiqur Rahim decided to retire from T20 International cricket to focus on the other two formats of the game.

4. Tamim Iqbal and Ayesha Siddiqui

Tamim Iqbal, a highly accomplished batsman in Bangladesh cricket, commenced his international career in 2007. He holds the record for the highest number of runs (14857) for the Bangla Tigers in all formats, with an impressive tally of 93 fifties and 25 centuries.

Ayesha Siddiqui is Tamim's wife and he proposed to her when he was just 16. Initially, she turned down the proposal, but eventually, they found their way back to each other. They tied the knot in 2013 after spending eight years together.

Their family includes two children, a son named Arham, and a daughter named Alishba. Tamim also took on the responsibility of captaining Bangladesh in ODIs, achieving victory in 16 out of 27 games.

5. Mashrafe Mortaza and Sumona Haque Sumi

Mashrafe Mortaza, the former captain, enjoyed a remarkable international career spanning 19 years until 2020. He secured an impressive total of 389 wickets across different formats, which stands as the second-highest among all Bangladeshi players. Notably, Mortaza led the team in all formats, inspiring the players with a tenacious fighting spirit.

In 2006, Mortaza tied the knot with Sumona Haque Sumi, a talented fashion designer originally from West Bengal, India. Sumi began her career as an independent fashion designer and has contributed her skills to various companies. Reports suggest that she now runs a fashion outlet in Dhaka.

The couple has been blessed with two children, a son named Sahil and a daughter named Humaira.

6. Sabbir Rahman and Maliha Tasnim

Sabbir Rahman began his white-ball career in 2014 and later made his Test debut in 2016. Throughout his journey in cricket, he has amassed a total of 2,791 runs across all three formats, managing to score one century.

Sabbir Rahman is married to Maliha Tasnim. Despite facing various challenges, the couple got married in 2019 after being together for five years. Interestingly, during the time of their marriage, Maliha Tasnim was still pursuing her graduate degree.

Despite his talent, Sabbir Rahman's cricketing career has been marked by controversies and bans. Nevertheless, he was selected to represent his team in the Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022. Unfortunately, his ordinary performances led to his exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad.

7. Mahmuduallah & Annatul Kawsar Mishti

Mahmudullah, a true legend of Bangladesh cricket, has made a significant impact in international matches. His remarkable skills as an all-rounder have earned him close to 10,000 runs and 162 wickets across all three formats, making him a key performer for the national team. Moreover, the 36-year-old has taken up the responsibility of leading the side in several matches.

The cricketer's wife, Annatul Kawsar Mishti, holds a BBA degree and became his life partner in June 2011. They are blessed with two sons, named Raeed and Mayed. Presently, Annatul is a housewife.

In 2021, Mahmudullah decided to retire from Test cricket, while he faced disappointment when he was not selected for the T20 World Cup 2022 squad due to his underwhelming performance in 2022. Nonetheless, he continues to be a valued member of the Bangla Tigers in the ODI setup.

8. Mustafizur Rahman & Samia Parvin

Mustafizur Rahman has undoubtedly been one of Bangladesh's finest fast bowlers in recent times. His exceptional ability to take wickets sets him apart, and he is especially known for bamboozling batsmen with his cutters, slower balls, and yorkers. Throughout his career, he has amassed an impressive tally of 264 wickets across all formats, including six five-wicket hauls.

In 2019, Mustafizur tied the knot with Samia Parvin, who pursued her studies in psychology at Dhaka University. Interestingly, Samia is Rahman's maternal cousin. The decision to get married came after a significant event where the Bangladesh team, including Mustafizur, narrowly escaped the Christchurch bombings.

At 27 years of age, Mustafizur remains a crucial strike bowler for the Bangla Tigers. As the ongoing T20 World Cup continues, he will play a pivotal role in leading the pace bowling unit, and Bangladesh fans have high expectations for him to deliver his best performances in the tournament.

9. Soumya Sarkar & Priyonti Debnath Puja

Soumya Sarkar, the talented left-handed batsman of the Bangladesh team, has been a valuable asset in providing strong starts for the team over the past decade. His quick cameos have been instrumental in setting up successful chases or putting up formidable targets on the scoreboard in numerous matches. So far, he has accumulated an impressive total of 3,762 runs across all formats, including three centuries.

In 2020, Soumya tied the knot with Priyonti Debnath Puja, who completed her 'O' level examination before their marriage. The couple has been together for the last five years and resides in Khulna, one of the largest cities in Bangladesh.

As a last-minute addition to the Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2022 squad, Soumya Sarkar will have an exciting opportunity to make an impact. Fans will be eager to see if his performances can help Bangladesh progress deep into the tournament or not.

10. Taskin Ahmed & Syeda Rabeya Naima

Taskin Ahmed is one of the most seasoned pacers in Bangladesh cricket, and his experience shines through in his performances. So far, he has taken an impressive tally of 120 wickets across all formats, consistently contributing to the team's success. Notably, he is also part of the 15-member Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2022 squad.

Taskin's wife's name is Syeda Rabeya Naima, who pursued her studies in Economics at the American International University. Interestingly, Taskin himself also studied at the same university. The couple exchanged vows in October 2017.

According to reports, Taskin and Syeda Rabeya Naima were in a relationship for seven years before they decided to get married. They are now blessed with a son named Tashfeen Ahmed Rihan.
